Editorial Responsibilities

Editorial Recruitment Policy and Workflow

Purpose

The Journal of Global Economics, Public Policy and Development (JGEPD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a competent, diverse, and internationally recognised Editorial Board. The Editorial Board provides academic leadership, safeguards the integrity of the editorial process, supports the Journal's strategic development, and enhances its visibility, quality, and reputation within the global research community.

The Journal seeks to recruit distinguished scholars and experienced professionals whose expertise aligns with its aims and scope. Editorial appointments are based on academic excellence, research achievements, professional integrity, editorial experience, and a demonstrated commitment to ethical and high-quality scholarly publishing.

Editorial Structure

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) provides the overall academic, strategic, and editorial leadership of the Journal. The EiC is responsible for defining the Journal's vision, editorial direction, and publication standards while ensuring that all published content meets the highest standards of scientific quality, research integrity, and publication ethics.

The Editor-in-Chief oversees the editorial and peer-review processes, makes final decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection, supervises members of the editorial team, promotes the Journal within the international research community, and supports initiatives that strengthen the Journal's quality, visibility, and scholarly impact.

Deputy Editor

The Deputy Editor assists the Editor-in-Chief in the strategic, editorial, and operational management of the Journal and serves as the principal deputy in coordinating editorial activities. The Deputy Editor supports the implementation of editorial policies, monitors manuscript handling and peer review, provides editorial recommendations, assists in resolving editorial matters, and helps ensure that manuscripts are processed efficiently, fairly, and in accordance with JGEPD's ethical standards.

The Deputy Editor also contributes to the recruitment and coordination of editors, reviewers, and Editorial Board members, supports journal development initiatives, and may act on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief when delegated or during periods of absence.

Associate Editors

Associate Editors support the Editor-in-Chief by managing manuscripts within their areas of expertise from initial assessment through completion of peer review. They evaluate the suitability of submissions, select qualified reviewers, assess reviewer reports, recommend editorial decisions, and ensure that manuscripts comply with the JGEPD's editorial standards and ethical requirements.

Associate Editors also contribute to the development of JGEPD by identifying emerging research areas, supporting Special Issues where appropriate, and promoting the Journal within their academic and professional communities.

Editorial Board Members

Editorial Board members serve as ambassadors, academic advisers, and subject experts for the Journal. They contribute to maintaining the scientific quality and reputation of JGEPD by undertaking peer review, recommending qualified reviewers, providing specialist advice, and supporting editorial decision-making when required.

Editorial Board members are encouraged to promote the Journal within their professional networks, recommend high-quality submissions, identify emerging research topics, contribute editorials or invited articles where appropriate, and assist in identifying qualified candidates for future editorial appointments. All Editorial Board members are expected to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics, confidentiality, impartiality, and professional conduct.

Editorial Recruitment Workflow

Appointments to the Editorial Board are made through a transparent, merit-based recruitment process designed to ensure broad international representation and balanced disciplinary expertise. Potential Editorial Board members may be identified through their scholarly publications, citation record, recognised subject expertise, editorial or peer-review experience, previous service to the Journal, recommendations from existing Editorial Board members, nominations by respected scholars or institutions, or demonstrated leadership within relevant academic or professional communities.

Each prospective appointment is evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and, where appropriate, in consultation with senior editors or members of the Editorial Board. Invitations are extended only to individuals who are considered capable of making a meaningful contribution to the Journal's academic development and editorial activities.

Selection Criteria

Editorial Board appointments are based on academic merit, professional reputation, and the ability to contribute actively to the Journal's long-term development. In assessing prospective members, the Journal considers recognised expertise within the Journal's scope, a strong record of scholarly publications, research impact, editorial or peer-review experience, academic leadership, commitment to publication ethics, and willingness to participate in the Journal's editorial activities.

JGEPD is committed to maintaining an Editorial Board that reflects diversity in geography, institutional affiliation, academic discipline, gender, and professional experience in order to ensure balanced international representation and a broad range of scholarly perspectives.

Appointment and Terms of Service

Editorial Board appointments are made by invitation of the Editor-in-Chief or other authorised senior editors and become effective upon acceptance by the invited scholar. Prior to appointment, prospective members receive information describing the purpose of the appointment, the expected editorial responsibilities, and the Journal's editorial policies and ethical standards.

Editorial Board membership is an honorary and voluntary academic appointment unless otherwise specified. Members are expected to participate actively in the Journal's editorial activities, maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and peer-review materials, disclose any conflicts of interest, and perform their responsibilities with professionalism, impartiality, and integrity.

JGEPD periodically reviews Editorial Board membership to ensure continued engagement, disciplinary relevance, balanced international representation, and effective support for the Journal's strategic objectives. Members who remain actively engaged may be invited to continue their service, while appointments may be revised periodically to reflect the evolving needs and development of the Journal.
